TECHNICAL RULES

Fiorino Mud provides a GPS track to follow and a monitoring service for the participants via the web, as well as an SMS Alert service with geolocation. Participants are required to have the track previously provided on their devices.

Fiorino Mud is in total self-sufficiency. Fiorino Mud foresees the absence of a solution of continuity, or the lack of intermediate stages: the track provided must be fully covered, in one stage.

A means of transporting essential luggage is made available free of charge which the participant in the bike experience will want to pass from departure to arrival. For the return the PuntAla Camp & Resort, arrival of the Fiorino Mud, is about 14 km from the Follonica railway station, logistics deemed ideal for returning to the starting point (Florence) with a comfortable regional train.

The bike experience is not subject to federal rules and does not provide for the obligation to have a sports affiliation. However, it is necessary to respect the medical certification dictated below.

1TECHNICAL RULES
  • Fiorino Mud is a bike experience in which a logistical coordination between two GPS points is offered, which are provided together with a track carefully screened, studied and tested.
  • Fiorino Mud is not a cycling race, it is not a competition of any kind or a competitive test: the GPS monitoring service provided, however, draws up an order to complete the bike expereience which is based on the time taken, for the sole purpose of allowing to those who want to test themselves, to test their skills, even comparing them with previous editions
  • The bike experience is not subject to federal aegis and does not include the obligation to have a sports affiliation. However, it is necessary to comply with the dictation on medical certification below.
  • 2EQUIPMENT
  • The use of the BDC (racing bike) is prohibited.
  • At the start, a check will be carried out on the material that every biker must have with him, on pain of failure to be included in the monitoring lists and exclusion from the services provided.
  • Smartphone
  • External battery (Min. 10000Mah)
  • Energy bars (indicatively 8)
  • Energy gels (indicatively 5)
  • Front lights (long life and at least 300 lumens)
  • Rear lights (long life)
  • Bikepacking bag (necessary to hold the material)
  • Clothing needed for daytime temperature range 8 ° -25 °
  • Kit required for repairs with at least 3 drilling!!
  • Glasses with sun lenses or the like.
  • Double water bottle, recommended in 75cl
  • MONEY cash (in some small fractions there is no ATM Bancomat)
  • 3ADVICE ON THE BIKE
    While there are no technical obligations in this regard, the following recommendations are provided:
  • Recommended tire 40 mm
  • We know that Tubeless tires offer greater protection from punctures and pinches, but the terrain to be tackled will tend to slide.
  • The recommended type of tessellation is an AllRoad that adapts well to all types of terrain and surfaces.
  • The choice of tread also depends on your level of preparation for driving.
  • The percentage of the offroad is about 70% with predominance of white roads but also earthy and heavy stretches.
  • Gravel bike is recommended but it is also possible to tackle the route with CX or MTB and also E-BIKES in the same category.
  • Recommended ratios for a MTB there are no problems of choice given the nature of the vehicle suitable for overcoming important slopes. We also remember that there are numerous fast sections on dirt roads and some important sections on asphalt and transfer.
  • Recommended ratios for Gravel and CX if with a single crown a 32 or 42 is recommended and a wide cassette, 10-36 or even more depending on the characteristics. If equipped with a triple on the front, the rear can also include a more regular cassette with a few jumps like a 28-11
  • BRAKES: we now know the widespread use of bicycles with disc brakes but of course the FiorinoMud can also be tackled very well with traditional brakes
  • Double lenses for glasses are recommended.
  • 4GPS MONITORING SERVICE

  • It is mandatory to follow the entire path and without cuts: checks during and afterwards will exclude from the completion list those who do not respect these dictates.
  • 5START
  • The departure will take place 'in French' between 5:48 and 6:18 from the Circolo Canottieri in Florence, behind Ponte Vecchio, a stone's throw from the Duomo and Piazza della Signoria.
  • 6FINISH LINE
  • It will be located in the Gulf of Punta Ala, at the PuntAla Camp & Resort.
  • 7MEDICAL CERTIFICATION
  • Although not a competitive competition, the medical certificate is mandatory as a guarantee of preparation for those participating in the bike experience.
  • By 'medical certificate' we mean the competitive one with the wording 'cycling' (strongly recommended): however, the presentation of a competitive certificate with other endurance sport words (swimming, athletics, etc.) or non-competitive health valid for the bike experience date.
  • In the absence of a medical certificate, participation will not be allowed despite the correct completion of the registration process.
  • No refund of fees will be granted due to the lack of documentation mentioned above.
  • 8TRACK, STOPPING, REFUELING
  • Fiorino Mud foresees the absence of a solution of continuity, that is the lack of intermediate stages: the track provided must be fully covered, in a single stage and with no aid or refreshment points provided by the staff.
  • There is no maximum time and obligations whatsoever other than those indicated in this regulation, the march is free and the test ends with the transit at the indicated end point.
  • The pace is decided by the individual biker or by the group of bikers to whom he decides to belong, based on his ability or will.
  • A careful study of the track provided is recommended in order to identify any moments / areas to make stops or refuelings where necessary.
  • Free is also the faculty to stop and get supplies at shops along the way. Free commercial apps will allow you to find refreshment places, ATMs, markets and any other aid you need.
  • 9TECHNICAL SUPPORT DURING THE EXPERIENCE
  • Fiorino Mud is in total self-sufficiency.
  • No technical or other assistance is provided by the staff and individual bikers will not have personal assistance in tow (but they will benefit from the spontaneous help of other bikers involved in the experience.
  • 10LUGGAGE TRANSPORT SERVICE FROM DEPARTURE TO FINISH LINE
  • A means of transporting essential luggage is made available free of charge that the participant in the bike experience will want to pass from departure to arrival.
  • The maximum size of the baggage that will be transported free of charge is 50cm length x30cm depth x40cm width.
  • Requests for transport that exceed these dimensions must be submitted directly via the form to the 'contacts' section of the portal www.fiorinomud.it and will be processed for a fee.
  • The material must be left in custody in the departure area 15 minutes before the presumed departure of each.
  • 11ARRIVAL AREA AND RELATED SERVICES (CATERING AND STORAGE)
  • Upon arrival, there will be a free reception area with a small buffet of drinks and food as well as making it available free of charge to all participants arriving at the arrival point of an area, not supervised, where they can park their bikes where the participants do not would like to take it to their overnight accommodation (service valid until 11.00 on day 23.
  • In the arrival area there will be a shower area.
  • 12BIKE WASHING SERVICE
  • In the arrival area, a bike washing service with water (independently - without staff) will be made available free of charge to all participants arriving at the arrival point, as well as an area for minor repairs, the latter only and exclusively in the hourly window. between 09.30 and 11.30 on 23 May 2021.
  • 13RETURN LOGISTICS
  • The PuntAla Camp & Resort is about 14 km from the Follonica railway station, logistics deemed ideal for reaching the starting point: the regional trains all offer the possibility of traveling with the cycling vehicle in tow.
  • There are buses that operate the same service from Puntone di Scarlino (5 km.) Or Follonica (5 km.)
  • 14REGISTRATION
  • Registrations will close automatically upon reaching the 300 units: no possibility of registering will be granted once this number has been reached or beyond the natural official registration expiry date.
  • The only registration channel for Fiorino Mud is the endu portal at the link https://www.endu.net/it/events/fiorino-mud/ which provides all information about it, including timing and deadlines.
  • In the event of impossibility to participate, there will be no refund, even partial, or postponement of registration to the following year.
  • As a summary, you specify what you will find on the endu portal.   • 15MEDICAL COVERAGE
  • Fiorino Mud relies on the coverage and media coverage of the bike experience to third parties who will make the material available on their own terms and on their channels advertised before the day of departure.
  • However Fiorino Mud will freely make available on his portal photos of the departure and arrival.
